WORKERS OF KALUGA AUTOMOTIVE EXPRESS SOLIDARITY WITH MEMBERS OF INDEPENDENT UNION AT MIKASHEVICHI “GRANITE” COMPANY
"Hold on to the last! Your victory will give force to the workers in the whole world! We, from our side, will make everything possible to help you "- with these words the union members at Kaluga “Volkswagen” Company and " Benteler Automotive " Company, affiliated to Inter-Regional Automotive Workers’ Union (MPRA), addressed the workers of RUPP "Granite" in Mikashevichi.
We, the Kaluga workers, express solidarity with the workers RUPP "Granite" Company who ran a risk and created the organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union in their company. The struggle for the rights both in Russia and Belarus is not an easy job, in which workers often have to withstand not only the employers of the enterprises, but the governmental structures as well.
We know that disaffiliation from the Lukashenko unions in itself is an act of civil courage. Workers of RUPP "Granite" Company are intimidated using the process of testing their professional skills. As for trade union chairman Oleg Stakhaevich and union activist Lyudmila Litvinko were fired. Now the court hearing has been launched by independent unions in order to reinstate them at their working places.
Like nobody else, we know that the words "workers’ solidarity" and "fraternity" are not empty phrases. When the factory workers went on strike at “Benteler Autmotive” Company, we received help and letters of support not only from all over our country but from abroad as well. Close collaboration between workers in different countries is a key condition for changing the situation for all workers!
