ON WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK SPM ACTIVISTS PLAN TO GO ON PICKETTING
Free Metalworkers’ Union (SPM) activists in Minsk, Mogilev and in other towns and cities of Belarus have applied to local authorities for permission to organize picketing on October 07 WDDW.
As SPM vice chairman Alexander Bukhvostov tolled the bkdp.org that the picket participants will demand abolishing of short-term contract system, raising wages and salaries as well as improving general living standards of employees and pensioners. “The basic thing for every worker is to have decent work. A worker at his workplace should be treated with respect”, stressed Alexander Bukhvostov.
The World Day for Decent Work is marked annually on the initiative of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) the most influential and authoritative world trade union confederation representing 176 million workers in 151 countries and territories and having 301 national affiliates. The WDDW campaign is one of the most significant dates in the ITUC calendar. Trade union activists worldwide on this day set forth their demands on creating normal conditions for decent work.
