BELARUSIAN FREE TRADE UNION LEADER HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR 10 DAYS
Chairman of the Belarusian Free Trade Union (SPB) Michael Kovalkov has been sentenced to 10 days of jail for taking part in protest actions held in Minsk on December 19 against falsification of election results.
Yesterday the BKDP activists have spent the whole day trying to find their colleague who was detained by the police December 19 evening at Independence Square. This morning it became known that Pervomaiski district court of Minsk has sentenced SPB leader Mikhail Kavalkou to 10 days of administrative arrest. The BKDP failed to find out the custody he was placed to. Since the custody at Okrestin street has been aleady overcrowded it is most likely that the SPB leader has been moved to Zhodino prison 40 km away of Minsk.
