Aleksey Stepanov serving his fourth prison term
Polymir plant worker Aleksey Stepanov, a member of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union, has been sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment for the fourth time.
Electrician on duty, the chairman of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union primary organization of Shop No. 200 of the Polymir plant of Naftan OJSC, Aleksey Stepanov, has spent over a month in the Polotsk pre-trial detention center. On October 28, judge of the Novopolotsk city court Zinaida Bolobolova sentenced Aleksey to 15 days of imprisonment under Art. 19.11 of the Administrative Code (distribution of extremist materials) for reposting materials in social networks in 2019, which have been recognized as extremist. Since that time, Aleksey has been held in custody. Every time his term of detention ends, Aleksey is sent for a new trial.
