Pressure on the Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BNP) members and their families continues

    In the morning of November 16, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested Inna Soyunova, the wife of Dmitry Soyunov, a member of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union, the union’s primary organization reported. Dmitry himself is serving a second 30-day administrative arrest.

    Inna Soyunova was arrested at her workplace for the purpose of conducting some procedural actions. We have no details. There is a minor child in the family, – reported the BNP primary organization at OJSC Naftan.

    Dmitry Soyunov is an employee of the Polymir plant of OJSC Naftan who joined the strike. He is now serving an administrative arrest for participating in an “illegal mass gathering event“. After serving a 30-day arrest from September 29 till October 28, under Article 24.23 “Violation of the procedure for organizing or holding mass gathering events”, without being released from the Isolation Center for Offenders, he was reconvicted for another 30 days of imprisonment.

    The apartment of the Soyunov family was searched in the presence of Inna Soyunova. She herself is at liberty.
