Search at home of Olga Britikova, the head of the BNP primary organization

The home of Olga Britikova, a former employee of Naftan, is being searched. This was reported by the Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BNP). Currently, Britikova is the head of the BNP primary trade union organization at Naftan.

According to the BNP, the search may be carried out by the Committee for State Security officers. Olga Britikova’s telephone is currently switched off. The reason for the search is still unknown. The arrival of the state security forces may be associated with the Rabochy Rukh movement.

On December 3 last year, Britikova was dismissed from her post as head of the Oil Products Sales Department. Before that, she was denied access to state secrets.

Prior to that, in September, Olga said that for the first time in 16 years of work, she was reprimanded and deprived of bonus for unjustified absence from work on August 20 when she together with a colleague counted workers’ signatures for a strike.

Olga Britikova challenged the dismissal from Naftan in court since she believes that it was due to her engagement in civic activities after the presidential elections. It was she who on August 17, at a meeting of Naftan employees with the then head of the State Control Committee Ivan Tertel, declared the demands of the plant workers to the republican and local authorities as well as to the management of the enterprise.

In January of this year, Olga Britikova became the head of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union primary organization at Naftan.
